Why is this Happening to MeMichal LazarovitzCurator: Irith Hadar 29.5.2025 – 21.6.2025 Opening: Thursday, 29 May 2025, 8 pm Gallery talk: Saturday, 7 June 2025, 12 noon
Michal Lazarovitz's engagement with various instances of disruption imbalance, and disarray across different dimensions of the intricate interrelations between human beings and nature, and among people themselves, unfolds in the series presented in the exhibition as a gradual unveiling of the creative act itself In the series—which, like previous ones, interweaves drawings and video works—the work of art begins by summoning arbitrary points of departure. At its core lies the construction, on paper, of binding relationships between elements that are autonomous and foreign to one another, while maintaining the presence of a connection that is never absolute. Each resulting work becomes a bounded gaze into a seething space, whose layers seem to vie for visibility Lazarovitz’s focus on disturbances of balance, on the loss of equilibrium, and on intensifying inertial processes is anchored in the bodily—in her daily reckoning with the lingering repercussions of a nestling medical condition. Her paintings give this reality a visual form, yet amid the unfolding painterly events, the tremors of the present moment seem to echo Gallery Talk Saturday, 7 June 2025, 12 noon Gallery Hours Wednesday + Thursday 11:00-18:00 Friday + Saturday 10:00-14:00 |
